Province of Alexandria mourns the death of the Bishop of Gambella

Dr. Samy Fawzy, Archbishop of the Episcopal/Anglican Province of Alexandria, mourned Bishop Rajan Yaqoub, who passed away yesterday evening. (1 Jan 2022)

The Archbishop said: We lost a faithful servant who was in difficult circumstances in Libya to serve for many years, as after that an Archdeacon was ordained in the Gambella region, and then an auxiliary bishop of the same region, in which God used him heavily.

The Archbishop added: We thank God for all the services and sacrifices that he offered for Christ in the province of Alexandria and the diocese of Egypt, concluding: My sincere condolences to his family and loved ones

Bishop Rajan was ordained as Auxiliary Bishop of Gambella, Ethiopia, which includes 152 churches, in September 2019, and in April 2020 he returned to his native India.

The funeral prayer will be held tomorrow at St. John’s Cathedral, Benzaris, India, at 7:45 am.
