Two former members of the 4th Estate have run stories of Methodist churches in Everett, WA and Tacoma, WA throwing conniption fits over the ruling.
Imagine what the TEC General Convention in 2003 would have been like if there had been 600 Global South deputies and 75 GS bishops in attendance with voting privileges.
For that matter, imagine what an ACC meeting might be like if it had proportional representation, and open votes, instead of the systemically racist system and “regional” voting specifically designed to limit the influence of the huge African churches, while maintaining the influence of tiny provinces like Wales and Scotland.
Wow. Well done Methodists.
