The former Archbishop of Kenya, the Most Rev. Eliud Wabukala, has been nominated by Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta to head the East African nation’s anti-corruption commission  On 20 Dec 2012 the President sent a letter to the Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi nominating Archbishop Wabukala to be chairman of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Committee. The note was read to the House during the Tuesday afternoon special sitting setting the clock ticking on a seven day public comment period. The Assembly then has until 18 Jan 2017 to act upon the nomination.  The archbishop was one of six candidates interviewed on 17 Nov 2016 by the Public Service Commission for the post. The former chairman of the GAFCON movement and primate of the Anglican Church of Kenya stepped down from his posts earlier this year upon turning 65. Archbishop Wabukala currently chairs the National Anti-corruption Steering Committee, a government entity formed in November 2004 that "carries public education, sensitisation and awareness against corruption."
