The Diocese of Oxford has disputed the accuracy of Anglican Ink’s article on the Tutu same-sex ceremony in South Africa

The Diocese of Oxford has disputed the accuracy of Anglican Ink’s article, “Same-sex Ceremony conducted with Oxford bishop’s permission” published on 23 May 2016.  A diocesan spokesman told AI the opening sentence of the story which read: “The acting Bishop of Oxford authorized one of his clergy to perform a same-sex blessing.” was false. She wrote: “This is the line that is simply untrue on two counts. The Bishop did not authorise her to perform a same-sex blessing; she did not perform a same-sex blessing.” However, Anglican Ink stands by its characterization of the ceremony. Further developments will be reported as they become available.
