This term’s public lecture is presented by Jeff Hardin, Professor and Chair of the Department of Zoology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  Hardin holds an M.Div. from the International School of Theology and a Ph.D. in Biophysics from the University of California, Berkeley. Hardin is the only scientist in the Religious Studies program at the University of Wisconsin-Madision, where he is the director of the Isthmus Society. This lecture will cover Hardin’s own research in cell and developmental biology, and his reflections on how this work relates to questions of meaning and purpose.

The Faraday Institute provides termly lectures in Cambridge on an aspect of science and religion by an internationally recognised speaker. Whilst academically rigorous, the lectures are accessible to a multidisciplinary audience. They take place in a variety of venues in Cambridge.

The lectures are free of charge and there is no need to book. They are followed by a free drinks reception and an opportunity to talk informally with the speaker.

Video recordings of the lectures are made and the entire archive is available for free download from the Multimedia page on the Faraday Institute website.
