Bishop Ruch responds to news of his presentment for trial

434

Dear Brothers and Sisters of the Upper Midwest Diocese,

On Monday, the ACNA Provincial Office announced that a Board of Inquiry found reasonable grounds to take me to an ecclesiastical trial for charges based on a Presentment by three bishops submitted in January. You can read the Province’s announcement here.

An ecclesiastical trial will provide an opportunity for all the evidence to be considered. For more background, you can read our “Frequently Asked Questions about the Investigative Process” here.

I am relieved that there will be an occasion to hear all sides and gain some resolution after more than two years. I continue to desire to walk in openness and humility.

While I don’t know any details or the timeline of this trial, which remains under Provincial leadership, I will be in dialogue with the Bishop’s Council, clergy, and leaders and communicate with you as much as possible. Please bring your concerns to your clergy, vestry, or parish councils. I remain thankful for your faithfulness in praying for healing for all who have been hurt and for the Lord’s leading during this challenging season. Please pray for everyone involved in these proceedings.

In the meantime, I am so grateful for the Gospel ministry that our churches are carrying out and the progress of our diocesan task forces. You’ll be hearing from me soon regarding your forthcoming opportunity to review and provide feedback on our revised Canons. I continue to value your input as we shape our Diocese together for the Lord’s good work ahead.

With much love,

+Stewart
