LEGISLATIVE BUSINESS

Draft Mission and Pastoral etc. (Amendment) Measure ( GS 2014A)

Draft Measure for Revision

(First Consideration at the February 2016 group of sessions)

Report by the Revision Committee (GS 2014Y)

Synod took note of this Report.

Revision Stage

The Synod completed the Revision Stage for the Draft Measure. Three amendments were proposed but none were carried by the Synod. The Draft Measure stood committed to the Steering Committee for Final Drafting.

Draft Legislative Reform Measure ( GS 2027) – Draft Measure for First Consideration

The Chair of the Steering Committee (the Bishop of Rochester) moved that the Measure entitled “Legislative Reform Measure” be considered for revision in committee. Synod approved the motion.

Draft Inspection of Churches Measure ( GS 2028) – Draft Measure for First Consideration

The Chair of the Steering Committee (the Right Worshipful Timothy Briden (ex officio)) moved that the Measure entitled “Inspection of Churches Measure” be considered for revision in committee.

The Synod carried a motion for the adjournment of debate on the Draft Measure moved by the Revd Simon Butler (Southwark). The effect is that debate will only be resumed with the agreement of the Business Committee.

Draft Amending Canon No. 36 ( GS 2029) – Draft Amending Canon for First Consideration

The Chair of the Steering Committee (the Bishop of St Albans) moved that the Canon entitled “Amending Canon No. 36” be considered for revision in committee. Synod approved the motion.

A VISION AND NARRATIVE FOR RENEWAL AND REFORM ( GS 2038)

The Venerable Cherry Vann (Manchester) moved that this Synod welcome the vision and narrative for Renewal and Reform as set out in GS 2038 and commend it as a framework for the implementation of Renewal and Reform across the Church. Synod approved the motion.

A CHURCH OF ENGLAND VISION FOR EDUCATION: A REPORT FROM THE EDUCATION DIVISION ( GS 2039)

Synod took note of this Report.

NURTURING AND DISCERNING SENIOR LEADERS: REPORT FROM THE DEVELOPMENT AND APPOINTMENTS GROUP OF THE HOUSE OF BISHOPS ( GS 2026)

Synod took note of this Report.

ARCHBISHOPS’ COUNCIL ANNUAL REPORT ( GS 2040)

Mary Chapman and Philip Fletcher gave a presentation on the Archbishops’ Council Annual Report.

ARCHBISHOPS’ COUNCIL BUDGET AND PROPOSALS FOR APPORTIONMENT FOR 2017 ( GS 2041)

Canon John Spence moved a series of motions inviting Synod to approve the Archbishops’ Council’s expenditure for the year 2017. Synod approved the motions.
