Prince Henry of Wales has bestowed the Order of the Companions of Honour upon the former Archbishop of Cape Town Desmond Tutu.

Prince Henry of Wales has bestowed the Order of the Companions of Honour upon the former Archbishop of Cape Town and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, the Most Rev. Desmond Tutu. On 30 Nov 2015, Prince Harry began an official four day tour of South Africa with a visit to the Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation in Cape Town. The 84 year old archbishop, who has been in and out of hospital for much of the year, praised the prince’s charitable endeavours in Africa, noting that he was “very touched by your commitment to Lesotho. I taught at the university there and became Bishop of Lesotho.” He added the kindness of the Royal Family “had a very soft spot in our hearts. [It was] just wonderful that you and the English are helping, thank you very much.” On behalf of The Queen, Prince Harry then presented the 1984 Nobel Peace prize winner and anti-apartheid activist with the order, awarded by the Crown to British and Commonwealth subjects for outstanding achievement in arts, culture and religion.
