The Moderator of the Church of North India consecrated two new diocesan bishops last week. On 9 Dec 2024 the Rt. Revd. Alfred Chandrakant Tiwde was consecrated Bishop in Pune, and the Rt. Rev. David Roy was consecrated Bishop in Dooars.
The ceremony, conducted at the CNI’s headquarters in Delhi, was led by the Moderator, the Most Rev. B.K. Nayak assisted by the Acting Deputy Moderator, the Rt. Rev. Manoj Charan, and the Bishops in Gujarat, Patna and Jabalpur.
The Diocese of Pune’s headquarters is located in Pune in the state of Maharashtra in the Deccan plateau in Western India and was created in 2000. The Diocese of Dooars was created in 2023 out of the diocese of Northeastern India and is based in Assam.
