James Robson

Oak Hill College is delighted to announce that the Rev. Dr James Robson will become the next Principal of Oak Hill College, commencing in September 2023.

James is a noted Bible teacher and theologian, with a deep pastoral heart. He is passionate about training people to be effective Bible teachers, evangelists and pastors.

For the last 6 years James has been Ministry Director for Keswick Ministries, where he has extended their work with the development and growth of a year-round ministries programme. This is part of his desire to help Christian ministers and people, at all stages of their ministry, to live Christ-like lives and serve Him in His world.

Academically his focus is the Old Testament. He was Senior Tutor in Old Testament and Hebrew at Wycliffe Hall Oxford and previously Tutor in Old Testament and Hebrew at Oak Hill College. He holds a PhD in Theology from Middlesex University and a BA in Experimental Psychology from Oxford University. His published works include Word and Spirit in Ezekiel, and Honey from the Rock: Deuteronomy for the People of God.

James is married to Bridget, and has two grown-up daughters. He enjoys hill-walking, mountain-biking, growing vegetables, golf and armchair cricket.

James says of his appointment:

It has been an immense privilege to serve these last six years with Keswick Ministries. It is every bit as much a privilege to be joining Oak Hill at this time.

Today is a day of great need in the church, but also a day of great opportunity. The risen Lord is on the throne. God has poured out his Spirit on his people. The field is white for the harvest. More labourers are needed in the field.

Oak Hill has a great history of serving the local church by helping with the forming, training and sustaining of men and women for and in gospel ministry. I’m really excited to be part of the next chapter.”

Jeremy Anderson, Chair of the College Council, says:

Serving the church as a minister or leader is a privilege, but also an onerous role. It is especially so in a nation which knows little of the gospel and is being so shaped by secular thinking. Under Johnny Juckes’ leadership we have worked hard not only to equip our students to be faithful Bible teachers, but also to help them prepare to be wise and godly pastors.

I am delighted that James is joining us to continue that journey. He brings exceptional Bible teaching skills and a deep pastoral focus, both in his own approach to ministry and in seeking to help others to develop their pastoral skills.

I have enjoyed getting to know James over the last four months and look forward to working alongside him very much.”
