The Anglican Church of Melanesia has concluded its 16th General Synod. Meeting from 14-19 November 2021 at Selwyn College on the island of Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands. Sixty three delegates and bishops from the province’s seven dioceses, religious communities and the provincial office gathered under their primate, the Most Rev. Leonard Dawea to chart the church’s course for next three years under the theme “Revisiting True Religion, Sound Learning and Useful Industry in ACOM today”.
Due to COVID travel restrictions on overseas visitors fifteen delegates from the dioceses of Vanuatu and New Caledonia participated in the meetings via Zoom from Luganville on the island of Espiritu Santo in Vanuatu. The ACOM’s chancellor Justice Lyn Stevens QC, members of the Melanesian Trust Board in New Zealand and other overseas partners attended via Zoom as well.
The meeting had been scheduled to be held last year, but was postponed due to the COVID pandemic.
