With a pending civil war, let’s take a time out and play the game of which king is Pres. Trump most like even though Americans don’t like kings. How about Nebuchadnezzar? I’m sure the good king must have drained a few swamps to build the Hanging Gardens. Pres. Trump was elected to drain the swamp but is finding the pond scum viciously fighting back. Ole King Neb was a great law reformer and of course The Donald is doing his best to restore our Constitution by appointing judges that respect the same rather than the present elitists who treat the law as their personal purview to stretch and deform.
Maybe Pres. Trump can be liken to King Herod. Both are big builders.
King David and Pres. Trump have much in common as both against overwhelming odds slew the monster which no other were willing to take on. It does remain to be seen if the present day monster will remain down or will rear her ugly head once again. Like Dave, Don is working hard to make his country great once again.
Let’s also consider Pres. Trump and King Henry. It didn’t take Henry long to tire of international intrigue interfering in the affairs of his country along with bad match making. If the Pope and Spanish people were insulted so be it. Donald made it plain from day one that America will run its own affairs and not the UN, EU, China, or Merkel’s Fourth Reich.
Abraham wasn’t a king as such but both he and Donald rewarded themselves with trophy wives. Melania Trump is an outstanding example of womanhood. Unlike Pres. Clinton’s hippy flower girl wife whose bloom dropped early, Melania has legs; the kind that go clear down to the ground.
Sarah was a renown beauty whose stately grace Abraham basked in as they took their evening walks around the camp with his fellows looking on with envy. Let’s face it. She was down right frigid which left the couple in a succession quandary. “Oh Abe, you’ll muss my hair.” She like many beauties was haughty and quick to admonish and berate the servants. “Abe would you look at that poor woman Hagar. She might be an Egyptian princess but so help me she can’t walk three steps without jiggling. No grace what so ever.” Old wily Abe knew how to play the psychology in the art of the deal eons before The Donald came on the scene. “Yes Sarah dearest she can be quite uncouth. I suppose we’ll still have to consider her because of her connections with Pharaoh if we go the surrogate mother route but honestly all of the jiggling makes me sea sick. May the good Lord spare me.” The rest is history.
In talking about this half of the churches I attend believe Trump is the Devil incarnate. The other half votes for him. I live in South Carolina. People come up to me agitated: ”how can you vote for him or support him ? Show me, they say to me any Christ likeness in his life ! I say was God doing his will through the kings of Assyria, Babylon, or Persia ? Were any of those Kings Christian or going to heaven ? They mumble, no. I ask were any of the ancient kings even pure monotheists, they mumble I don’t know. But God was in control, working through them, yes ? How holy are the Clintons ? Most of the time they are silent. You do realize, I say to my friends that there was no such thing then as a Christian, back then right ? silence. They had to wait for the ultimate sacrifice, right ? I mention that it was only in the book of Acts, after Pauls conversion and short initial discipleship, that ”they were first called Christians in Antioch”. I say God in the Bible uses screwy people. His gospel is offered to broken people. Have you read the book of judges ? Are these people heroes ? kinda strange, yeah, examples to follow ? not really, The bible I teach is filled
with warnings or examples. A Christian reads and copies and imitates the good examples: Joseph, for example, and heeds the examples which are warnings which are negative.
I don’t think the Canterbury Conspiracy is actually a conspiracy. To be a conspiracy requires a fairly large number of people who don’t know what you are up to, and at this point, I think everyone on both sides already knows. The relationship between the scheduling of Lambeth and the release of the Living in Love and Faith document are self evident (that is, that the release of the final document- originally due in Feb 2019, IIRC- was rescheduled to come after Lambeth 2020, so the GS bishops might show up). And of course now that Lambeth is postponed a year, the LLF will not come to Synod until Aug 2021 (at least, not the final approval). My guess would be that they go the usual route- release something that sounds sort of almost orthodox in February (with great gnashing of teeth and rending of garments by progressives, faux apologies by archbishops, etc.- you know the drill), hoping to fool the more naive in the Global South, and then “revise” it for final acceptance after Lambeth.
I would also bet money that the main reason that the kangaroo court for +Bill Love, which has been delayed for 18 months now, was also delayed so long into 2020 in hopes that the final expulsion of the last orthodox bishop in TEC could be delayed until after Lambeth. But whatever deal may have been reached between 815 and Lambeth Palace, it would be difficult for TEC to put it off yet another year, as TEC has already violated its own canons by delaying this long.
