Kidnappers free bishop’s wife

Sources in the Church of Nigeria report the wife of the bishop of Ikeduru has been freed by her kidnappers after a ransom was paid.

On 23 August 2019 Mrs. Anuri Maduwuike was abducted while driving home from Owerri on the way to Ekemele. Unconfirmed reports on Facebook state the kidnappers had demanded N8 million for the safe return.

AI has learned Mrs. Maduwuike was freed on Sunday after, 25 August 2019 by the kidnappers. It is not known if a ransom was paid. First reports indicate she was not harmed.
