  1. I’ve got an important correction: at about the six minute mark, I report that both the opening and closing Eucharists appeared to be using a version of Rite II. This is incorrect. While the Prayer of Humble Access was omitted (it isn’t required) I have reviewed the Renewed Ancient Text version of the ACNA rite, and the version used was consistent with this. Part of my confusion was the omission of the aforementioned prayer and several other elements that are used in my own congregation’s services, but these are not required. Besides, the wording of the Fraction (‘…once for all upon the Cross’) should have been an obvious indicator that this was the ACNA rite, not a version of Rite II. This is a significant goof on my part, please accept my apology.

    • Jeff,
Thank you for your reports on the event. I think we can forgive you the error on Eucharistic Rites. According to my inbox, you are not the only person to think what you did. And frankly, there are so many versions of Rite II (including any number of do-it-yourself in addition to the 4 versions of the Eucharistic prayers in the 79, and myriad of “liturgical resources”) in use in TEC, that 10% of TEC parishes are probably doing the ACNA rite by accident.
