New moderator elected for the Church of North India

Deputy Moderator PC Singh, BIshop in Jabalpur, elected moderator by the 16th General Synod in New Delhi

The 16th General Synod of the Church of North India, (CNI) has elected a new moderator. Meeting from 30 Sep to 3 Oct 2017 in New Delhi, the outgoing deputy moderator of the united church comprising 26 dioceses and over 3000 congregations in northern India, the Rt. Rev. Prem Singh, Bishop in Jabalpur, (pictured) was elected moderator in succession to the Most Rev. Pradeep Samantaroy, Bishop in Amritsar. (Bishops in the united churches of India are styled “bishop in” not “bishop of”).

The Rt. Rev Probal Kanto Dutta, Bishop in Durgapur was elected deputy moderator in succession to Bishop Singh. Mr. Alwan Masih was reelected as General Secretary and Mr. Jayant Agarwal was elected treasurer.
