An ecclesiastical tribunal in the Diocese of Durham has handed down a two-year suspension to the Rev. David Huntley for sexual misconduct.

An ecclesiastical tribunal in the Diocese of Durham has handed down a two-year suspension to the Rev. David Huntley for sexual misconduct. Last month the diocese found Mr. Huntley (53) vicar of St Lawrence the Martyr Church, in South Shields, South Tyneside, had an affair with a 27-year old woman whom he was preparing for baptism. The woman, who worked as a barmaid, had three other children and was living with the father of one of her children when the affair began. She became pregnant and gave birth to a daughter in 2015. Mr. Huntley subsequently confessed to his archdeacon the news of his affair. He was suspended from ministry and last month the diocesan disciplinary court recommended he be suspended for two years. The woman told The Sun that while she and Huntley live apart, it is her hope the two will be married.
