A police spokesman stated: “The 57-year-old man from Upper Caldecote has been released with no further action.”

A St Alban’s vicar has been cleared by Bedfordshire Police of rape. In December Anglican Ink reported the Rev. Dr. Frank Coleman, vicar of All Saints Church in Upper Caldecote, Bedfordshire (pictured) had been arrested in September and was currently on police bail pending a January hearing. Dr. Coleman had also been stood down as governor of the Upper Caldecote Church of England Lower School pending adjudication of the complaint. A diocesan spokesman in December acknowledged a “clergyman has been suspended from all duties. The suspension is a neutral act and implies no assumptions about the outcome of the police investigation.”  However last month a police spokesman stated: “The 57-year-old man from Upper Caldecote has been released with no further action.” The diocese said the exoneration of Dr. Coleman allowed him to return to work, noting: “There is nothing to stop Revd Dr Frank Coleman returning to his duties now, but he is taking some time off to recover from the last few months.”
