Albany rector arrested on Peeping Tom charge

St Stephen’s Episcopal Church will be celebrating Christmas without its rector, following the arrest of the Rev. Adam Egan.

St Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Delmar, NY will be celebrating Christmas without its rector, following the arrest Wednesday of the Rev. Adam Egan. Colonie police report Fr. Egan has been charged with two felony counts after he attempted to videotape a woman changing in a store dressing room. A customer at a Salvation Army thrift shop noticed a camera emerging from behind the curtain in her dressing room and called security. Fr. Egan (35) fled the story, but was arrested by police for unlawful surveillance and attempting to destroy evidence and is being held in the Albany County Correctional Facility pending a 28 Dec 2015 court hearing. Fr. Egan was received by the Rt. Rev. William Love of Albany from the Polish National Catholic Church in February 2010 and has served as rector of the suburban Albany parish since that time. The diocese has not issued a statement on Fr. Egan’s arrest, but his parish website has taken his name down from its masthead.
