Chicago cathedral dean appointed

An English vicar has been appointed Dean of St James Episcopal Cathedral in Chicago

A Diocese of Peterborough rector has been appointed Dean of St James Episcopal Cathedral in Chicago. On 22 March 2015 the Rt. Rev. Jeffrey Lee announced the rector of SS Peter & Paul’s Kettering, the Rev. Dominic Barrington would be installed on 13 Sept 2015. In his announcement of the appointment, Bishop Lee wrote: “Dominic has impressed us as a strong, loving and wise priest with considerable gifts and skills as a pastor and liturgist, and a wide experience of ministry in the United States, England and beyond.” The bishop added the new dean was “highly suited” for the post due to his background as an arts administrator and as a fundraiser with the Arts Council. “as St James. “He also worked for several years with some of Britain’s leading professional choirs and vocal groups, including The Sixteen and the Hilliard Ensemble.  He comes prepared to help us blend the defining characteristics of American cathedrals, which are typically home to congregations that value beautiful liturgy and sensitive pastoral care, with those of British cathedrals, which play a prominent public role as venues for the arts, homes for community gatherings and advocates for social justice.”
