The Diocese of Virginia has been requested to file an opposition to the petition in the U.S. Supreme Court case involving The Falls Church CANA congregation. The request came as part of the review process involving a petition filed Oct. 9, 2013, by the CANA congregation seeking a reversal of the Virginia Supreme Court decision that confirmed the Diocese’s claim to ownership of The Falls Church property.

The deadline for filing the opposition petition is Dec. 23, but the Diocese will request a 30-day extension.

The court will decide in 2014 whether it will review the case on its merits.
