Primates of the Anglican Communion — Archbishop of Korea

The Most Rev. Paul Keun Sang Kim, Archbishop of Korea and Bishop of Seoul.

Born in 1952, Archbishop Paul Kim was educated at the Jesuit-affiliated Songang University, and at the Catholic University of Korea. He trained for the ministry at Sungkonghoe University and was ordained priest in 1980 the diocese of Seoul. He served as a parish priest in the diocese from 1980 to 1996, dean of the Cathedral Church of St Mary the Virgin and St Nicholas from 1996 to 2000. He was diocesan secretary from 2000 to 2004, and chief of the welfare center for the disabled in Guri City from 2004 until he was consecrated Bishop-coadjutor of Seoul on 22 May 2008 and became 5th bishop ordinary of Seoul in January 2009. Social justice has been a particular focus of Archbishop Kim’s tenure as primate of Korea. He was elected archbishop and primate of the province in 2010 upon the retirement of Archbishop Solomon Jong-Mo Yoon, Bishop of Busan. He is married to Theresa, and they have two daughters, Jane and Esther — a priest of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles.
