The Anglican Diocese of Ho has consecrated the Rev. Canon Selorm Selin Sefakor Mereku, SSC, as bishop coadjutor, in succession to the diocesan bishop, the Rt. Rev. Matthias K. Medadues-Badohu, SSC. The consecration took place at St Patrick’s Anglican Church, Kpando, in Ghana’s Volta Region on 14 August 2026.
The Most Rev. Cyril K. Ben-Smith, Metropolitan Archbishop and Primate of the Church of the Province of West Africa, consecrated Canon Mereku with the bishops of the province. The Rt. Rev. George Kotei Neequaye, Bishop of Tema, was the preacher for the service
Before his election to the episcopate, Bishop Mereku served as parish priest of Kpando and was educated at the University of Cape Coast. Anglican News Hub Ghana reported before the service that Canon Mereku, who is in his mid-forties, was expected to become the youngest bishop in the history of the Province of Ghana.
