Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

On Monday of this week, a presentment—a formal charge alleging violation of canon (church law)—was filed against Archbishop Wood, the elected leader of our national province, the Anglican Church in North America.

The Archbishop has recused himself and delegated the canonical duties of verifying the validity of the presentment and the establishment of a Board of Inquiry to the dean of the Province, Bishop Ray Sutton. We are following the processes outlined in the ACNA Canons, which you can find here.

The Washington Post published an article about the presentment on the morning of Thursday, October 23, 2025.

Regardless of the truth of any allegations, our witness and credibility are impaired by the turmoil in our province. Many will find it disheartening and confusing, making it difficult to have confidence in leadership.

In the midst of this issue, I want to remind you of two things.

First, that Jesus Christ remains Lord of the Church. We can have confidence in him. As Paul says in 2 Timothy 2:13, “he remains faithful.”

Second, as I said in my recent letter to you regarding the GAFCON statement on the Global Anglican Communion, we are still called to continue to make disciples of Jesus Christ. I want to commend you all to the ongoing faithful work of gospel proclamation, catechesis, and pastoral care, which you have been diligently engaging in week in and week out.

My prayer continues to be that we as Anglicans simply continue to proclaim Christ crucified and reach our neighbors with His transforming love.
