The Archbishop of the Episcopal Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East, the Most Rev. Mouneer Anis, has invited leaders of the Global South movement to the the Fifth Anglican South to South conference in Tunisia.

The 21 June 2015 invitation invites selected primates from the Anglican Communion’s African, Asian and South American churches to bring a team of seven, including a youth delegate to the 12 – 18 October 2015 meeting in Carthage. Details of the meeting have not yet been published, but the announcement stated “Members of the Anglican Communion will have the opportunity to learn from the richness of the North African Church. Do pray that the time spent together may be a source of blessing to and encourage Anglicans to run the race set before us.”

“How Africa shaped our Christian mind” is expected to be the theme of the meeting. The Fourth Anglican South to South Encounter (pictured) took place in Singapore in April 2010 under the theme of “The Gospel of Jesus Christ – Covenant for the People, Light for the Nations.” The 2010 gathering included participants from the Anglican Church of Australia, the Episcopal Church of the USA, the Anglican Church in North America, the Church of England, Anglican Church of Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia and other western churches. It is not known if an invitation will be extended to these churches for the Fifth meeting.
