Welby to visit West Malaysia and Borneo in October

The Diocese of Sabah reports the Archbishop of Canterbury will visit the Southeast Asian diocese next month to attend the meeting of the Council of Churches of East Asia. Archbishop Welby travels to Malaysia to attend the bi-centennial celebration of St George’s Church, Penang, the oldest Anglican church in Southeast Asia on 3 October 2019. He then travels to Kota Kinbalu, Borneo for the 4 to 6 October meeting of the CCEA as a guest of the fast growing 90,000-member Diocese of Sabah. Approximately 150 delegates from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Myanmar, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Korea and Australia are expected to attend the CCEA gathering.
