The Electoral College of Bishops today elected the Right Revd Dr Vicentia Kgabe, currently Bishop of Lesotho, as the new Bishop of Pretoria.

She was elected to the See of Pretoria on the first ballot during an online session of the Synod of Bishops, presided over by Archbishop Thabo Makgoba of Cape Town, Metropolitan of the Anglican Church of Southern Africa.

An Elective Assembly of the Diocese of Pretoria delegated the election of a new Bishop to the Synod of Bishops in May of this year. After 10 ballots, no candidate had received the number of votes required for election.

Please keep Bishop Kgabe, the Diocese of Pretoria and the Diocese of Lesotho in your prayers as they prepare for her installation and negotiate this transition.

Sincerely in Christ,

THE REVD CANON GRANT WALTERS

Provincial Executive Officer
