REACH Southern Africa leadership

In a service of great celebration, the Rt. Rev. Josphat Mundamawo was consecrated as Bishop of the Reformed Evangelical Anglican Church of Zimbabwe on Sunday 6th February 2022.  The service took place at Holy Trinity Church, Harare, before a full capacity (COVID regulated) congregation. Representatives from a number of denominations and organizations were also present.  Josphat Mundamawo was elected by an overwhelming majority of both clergy and laity at REACH – Zimbabwe’s October 2021 Synod.

The Bishop elect was consecrated by Presiding Bishop Glenn Lyons assisted by Bishops Martin Morrison, Njabulo Mazibuko (REACH-SA) and Lukas Katenda (REACH-Namibia).

During the weekend, the Presiding Bishop also convened a two day REACH-Southern Africa leadership conference.  Over several sessions, the leaders from the various countries discussed issues related to their unifying Anglican distinctives, GAFCON and the Anglican Communion, as well as ministry training and future church planting initiatives.

REACH – Southern Africa is an umbrella fellowship of approximately 250 congregations in the Reformed Evangelical Anglican Church of South Africa, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Namibia, Angola and the DRC.  Its theological seminary is George Whitefield College in Cape Town, which trains and equips many students and ministry candidates from Anglican and other evangelical churches across Africa.
