Unfortunately, I think that it is not so odd that history is repeating itself. As the adage says- “those who are ignorant of history are doomed to repeat it” (numerous variations). And nowadays, in our societies, our governments, and our churches, there are quite a number of “leaders” who are ignorant of history. And in our churches, all too many in leadership positions also appear to be ignorant of Scripture, tradition, and decent sermon writing skills (present company excepted, of course).
It was good to hear Kevin and George draw attention to keeping Jesus up front in what has been occurring. Will society, the “world,” reach perfection by reorganization and throwing more money on a problem? Did Jesus say that? If I haven’t read Jesus wrong, he gave us ways to do things and exemplified them in the midst of a world filled with sin, shortcomings, and failures–God’s way. The core issue is that this is not a political problem, a racial relations problem, but a moral and spiritual problem that will not be settled by treating it as though it isn’t and will repeat itself over and and over again.
