Hong Kong bishops’ appeal over standoff at HK Polytechnic University

509

The three bishops of the HKSKH express deep concern regarding the conflict at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. We sincerely wish that the crisis may be settled peacefully through efforts from all sides.

We further appeal to all stakeholders to exercise self control, so that the crisis may be resolved without violence,  but with reason, empathy and legitimacy. We hope that all young students may go home to their families safely. We believe that all who dwell on earth are children of God, that renders us brothers and sisters to each other. We ardently wish that we may learn to live together in forgiveness, embrace, love, justice and peace.

May God bless and keep our City!

  1. Hong Kong’s Anglican bishops continue to support Beijing, not the people of Hong Kong. Do something to bring the students back to their homes not Mainland prisons. Call for an end to police brutality.

    • This is turning into one of those ‘right side of history’ events that the Anglican Church is famous for flubbing.

    • Interesting. Let’s see if the HK Anglican bishops hunker down. Stay indoors. Shelter in place. Let the Holy Spirit do the heavy lifting. They can always jump on the winners side at the conclusion.

  2. All who dwell on earth are children of God? Where do we read that in Scripture? Has the gospel been abandoned in HK as well as the UK?

    • Where do we read that in Scripture?

      Ephesians 4:6

In one sense, all humans are children of the Triune God; in another sense, only those who put their faith in Christ are children of God the Father.
