Former ACNA priest elected Bishop of Caledonia

Jake Worley elected on 8th ballot

The Anglican Church of Canada’s Diocese of Caledonia elected the Rev. Jacob Christopher Dodd Worley to serve as its 10th bishop. Bishop-elect Worley was elected on the 8th ballot to succeed the Rt. Rev. William Anderson at a special meeting of diocesan synod held on 22 April 2017 at St Andrew’s Cathedral in Prince Rupert, British Columbia. An American citizen, Bishop-elect Worley was educated at Western New Mexico University and worked for the US Department of Defense as a biologist at the White Sands Missile Range. In 2001 he matriculated at Trinity School of Ministry and was ordained to the deaconate by the Rt. Rev. Terry Kelshaw and served his curacy at St James Episcopal Church in Birmingham, Michigan. He returned to New Mexico in 2005 and served as an assistant at St Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He left the Episcopal Church in 2007 joining the AMIA, starting a congregation in Las Cruces. In 2012 he took up the post of interim rector of St Martin’s Anglican Church in Fort St John, BC, before being instituted rector of the Kilmoremoy Union of Parishes in the Church of Ireland’s Diocese of Tuam, Killala & Achonry in October 2013. In 2014 he returned to the Diocese of Caledonia and has served as priest in charge of St James, Smithers, with St John the Divine, Quick and St. Clement’s, Houston British Columbia. A native of New Mexico, he and his wife, Kelly, have five children. Bishop-elect Worley’s election must be confirmed by the bishops of the province of Yukon and British Columbia before he is consecrated.
