Excluding procreation from the marital bond, makes marriage a mockery

The Archbishop of Kenya, the Most Rev. Jackson Ole Sapit, has urged the Kenyan government to resist pressure from international NGOs and foreign governments to legalize same-sex marriage.

Speaking on 10 April 2018 in Bungoma at a ceremony dedicating a new diocesan office building, Archbishop Ole Sapit told reporters: “The Church is very clear, especially from Biblical teachings that one man and one woman find and found a family. We want to make it very clear that family is one wife and one husband joined together to form a couple. The Church advocates for marriage between females and males, not vice versa. We do not encourage any discussion about homosexuality and lesbianism. That is not what the Bible teaches.”

The British government has pushed members of the Commonwealth to reform the sodomy laws and legalize gay marriage — a push also made by the former Obama administration in Washington as well as Western NGOs and aid agencies.

Same-sex marriage is forbidden under Kenyan law, however, Kenya same-sex couples married in Europe have sought to overturn the ban on gay marriage through the courts. Archbishop Ole Sapit told reporters that the very concept of same-sex marriage was a nullity, as it excluded procreation from marital bond.

Procreation must not be separated from marriage, the archbishop said. “We have to respect He who created us, that he made man and woman because of procreation. If He approved same sex marriages, then He would have created men alone or women,” he said.
