Bishop of Central Busoga appointed for the Church of Uganda

The Rev. Canon Patrick Wakula Elected as the 1st Bishop of Central Busoga Diocese

 

The Rev. Canon Patrick Wakula has been elected the 1st Bishop of Central Busoga Diocese. The Diocese of Central Busoga is being carved out of Busoga Diocese and will have its headquarters in Iganga.  He will be consecrated and enthroned as Bishop on 13th November at All Saints’ Pro-Cathedral, Iganga.

Canon Wakula accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour on 1st January 1990, after ten years of seeking the Lord through Bible study, prayer, and fellowship in Scripture Union at St. James Senior Secondary School.

Canon Wakula currently serves as the Archdeacon of Jinja Archdeaconry and Vicar of St. James Parish, Jinja, in Busoga Diocese. Previously, he served as Archdeacon of Kaliro Archdeaoncry and Vicar of Mbulamuti Parish, Kamuli Archdeaconry. He has served on numerous school Boards of Governors and Management Committees as well as Diocesan committees.

Canon Wakula was ordained a deacon in 1995 and a priest in 1997 in Busoga Diocese.

Canon Wakula earned his Bachelor of Education from Makerere University in 2004. He was awarded a Diploma in Secondary Education from Kyambogo Institute of Education and a Diploma in Theology from Bishop Barham Divinity College, Kabale.

The election was made by the House of Bishops of the Church of Uganda sitting at Uganda Christian University in Mukono on 24th August 2016.

Canon Wakula is married to Florence Wakula and they have six children.
