On the Tragic Helicopter Crash at Adansi Akrofuom on Wednesday, 6th August, 2025

The Anglican Church in Ghana has received with profound sorrow and deep sadness the news of the tragic helicopter crash that occurred on Wednesday, 6th August 2025, at Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region, resulting in the untimely death of two Ministers of State and six other esteemed citizens.

On behalf of the Archbishop, Bishops, Clergy, and the entire Anglican Communion in Ghana, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the President of the Republic, the Government of Ghana, the bereaved families, and all who have been affected by this national tragedy.

We honour the memory and service of the departed Ministers, Government officials and the Ghana Armed Forces Servicemen, who lost their lives in the line of duty. Their sacrifice and dedication to the Republic will forever be etched in the heart of our nation.

At this moment of national mourning, we offer our prayers for the souls of the departed, and we ask God to grant them eternal rest and to comfort their families with His peace that surpasses all understanding. We also pray for strength and divine guidance for the leadership of our nation as we navigate this period of grief and loss.

As the Church, we stand in solidarity with the nation and renew our commitment to intercede for wisdom, unity, and healing for our land.

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” (Matthew 5:4)

May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Most Rev’d. Dr CYRIL KOBINA BEN-SMITH

(Archbishop of the Internal Province of Ghana)
