IS a “deeply evil” organization Archbishop Justin Welby tells the BBC

The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Rev. Justin Welby has the campaign of terror waged by the Islamic State, calling the group’s actions “deeply evil”. His 18 April 2015 remarks to the BBC came one day before a video purportedly filmed by IS was posted to jihadist social media sites show 15 men being paraded on a beach, clad in orange jumpsuits, being beheaded, while a second film shows 15 men being shot to death in a semi-desert region. The narrator of the video called the men “crusaders” and “worshippers of the cross belonging to the hostile Ethiopian church”. An Ethiopian government spokesman told Reuters they could not confirm the nationality of the murdered men. “Nonetheless, the Ethiopian government condemns the atrocious act,” he said. In an interview broadcast on the BBC, Archbishop Welby said he believed the “Islamic State is deeply evil – even to its own supporters if they stray one inch off what is seen as the right road.” The General Bishop of the Coptic Orthodox Church in the UK, Bishop Angaelos said: “These executions that unnecessarily and unjustifiably claim the lives of innocent people, wholly undeserving of this brutality, have unfortunately become far too familiar. Once again we see innocent Christians murdered purely for refusing to renounce their Faith.”
