People & Places: Ryan Danker appointed to Greensboro College faculty

Greensboro College has appointed Ryan N. Danker, currently special assistant to the president for church relations, to a full-time faculty position effective with the Fall 2014 semester.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Greensboro College has appointed Ryan N. Danker, currently special assistant to the president for church relations, to a full-time faculty position effective with the Fall 2014 semester.

Danker will becoming visiting assistant professor of church history and theology in the Department of Religion.

He joined the college in his current position in 2011 and helped establish the Royce and Jane Reynolds Institute for Church Leadership, which oversees all opportunities for faith development and the theological exploration of vocation for students, faculty and staff at Greensboro College.

He also served as an adjunct instructor in religion.

Before joining the college, Danker served as pastor for discipleship at West Market Street United Methodist Church, the college’s founding congregation, from 2009 to 2011. He also has held positions with other area churches.

He holds a B.A. from Northwest Nazarene University, an M.Div. from Duke University, and a Th.D. from Boston University. 

Greensboro College, an independent, coeducational college affiliated with the United Methodist Church, is an academic and social community that unites the liberal arts and Judeo-Christian values in an atmosphere of diversity and mutual respect.

Founded in 1838 and located near downtown Greensboro, the college enrolls about 1,250 students from 32 states, the District of Columbia and 24 nations in its undergraduate liberal-arts program and four master’s degree programs. In addition to rigorous academics and a well-supported Honors program, the school features a 16-sport NCAA Division III athletic program and dozens of service and recreational opportunities.
