  1. Looks like Welby is taking full advantage of the all expense paid world tour no doubt paid for, directly or indirectly, with off-the-books contributions by Trinity Wall Street.
Let’s be realistic, there is no line item in the Synod or ACO budget to pay for the hundreds of airplane flights, hotels and conference rooms enjoyed annually by the ABoC, Gavin Drake, Idowu Fearon and all of their entourage. Travel budgets must run into the several millions of dollars.

  2. What I find interesting about this news story, is that Archbishop Justin Welby and the Kenyan Archbishop Jackson Sapit, went together to do this curtesy call on a government official. So, publicly they present a united face. Yet privately, as two other news stories on Anglican Ink describe, Archbishop Sapit has taken a stand against western reinterpretation of marriage, and is not coming to the Lambeth conference. Personally, I think Archbishop Welby ought to be credited with visiting Keyan Anglicans, when there is distrust and criticism amongst them towards him. Welby is doing his job, uncomfortable and unpleasant as it must be, in this situation. It was probably Archbishop Sapit who set up this visit with the Deputy Minister.
