On December 16, 2025 The Board of Inquiry appointed to address the Presentment of Bishop Derek Jones issued its final decision to refer the matter to trial on all four charges.

The canonical charges against Jones include: 1) Refusal to follow a Godly Admonition in violation of Title IV, Canon 2.1.12; 2) Disobedience to, or willful contravention of the Canons of the Church, in violation of Title IV, Canon 2.1.9; 3) Having exhibited conduct giving cause for scandal or offense, including the abuse of ecclesiastical power, in violation of Title IV, Canon 2.1.4; and 4) Has promoted and caused schism within this Church in violation of Title IV, Canon 2.1.2.

The Court for the Trial of a Bishop will communicate about next steps in this matter, including a trial date. If Bishop Jones declines to participate, he will be tried in abstentia since the ACNA canons do not allow a Bishop to resign while under discipline.
