With profound sorrow, the Church of North India mourns the passing of Pope Francis, who departed this life on April 21, 2025, at the age of 88. Born Jorge Mario Bergoglio in Buenos Aires, he became the first Latin American and Jesuit pope in 2013. His papacy was marked by humility, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to the marginalized.

Just hours before his passing, Pope Francis delivered an Easter message of hope from St. Peter’s Square, reminding us: “Christ is risen! These words capture the entire meaning of our existence, for we were not made for death but for life.”

May his legacy of love and service continue to inspire us all.

“Rest in peace, Holy Father. We will see you on the other shore.”
