Two safeguarding investigations have been launched by Archbishop Andy John into a male cleric affiliated with St Deiniol’s Cathedral in Bangor, Nation.Cymru reports.

The Welsh news site stated they had seen a letter written by Archbishop John to the cathedral canons in October 2024 where he informed them that a “serious incident referral” be made to the Charity Commissioners and the Provincial Safeguarding Team. The archbishop further stated he would instigate a visitation of the cathedral that will “focus attention on the quality of life, faith, discipline, behaviour and culture of the Cathedral. I intend to convene this team as soon as possible and to require them to report to me within a month from the commencement of their work” with the report to be delivered to the archbishop by 2 Dec 2024.

In addition to the visitation report, which has not yet been published, a second safeguarding report has been commissioned by Thirtyone:eight. No date has been announced for the publication of the second review.

Nation.Cymru stated it believed the case involved a male harassing a female member of staff.
