TO THE FAITHFUL OF THE EPISCOPAL CHURCH IN THE PHILIPPINES
On 29 June 2023, the Feast of St. Peter and St. Paul, THE MOST REV. JOEL O. PORLARES shall be installed as the 14th Opispo Maximo of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente at the IFI National Cathedral in Manila. We ask our clergy and people to take this occasion as a day of prayer for the Obispo Maximo and his family as well as the entire constituency of the IFI.
The ECP and the IFI celebrated the 25th anniversary of our Concordat relations in 2022. We rejoice and thank God for this gift of Concordat which enables both of our Churches to break one wall of division and take a common path of worship, witness and service. In our journey along this common path, we have been and continue to be spiritually enriched by each other’s prayers and fellowship.
Let us therefore continue to sincerely see in each other and seek out in each other a treasured opportunity to follow and realize Ephesians 4:3: “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.”
