Statement by Andrea Williams of Christian Concern on Archbishop Welby’s statement on human sexuality

1536
The Christian view on marriage and sexuality cannot be reduced to a minor, secondary issue.

The apostolic gospel, which the faithful Church is called to proclaim, is ‘repent and believe’.

Such wildly divergent views of what repentance means in the area of sexuality cannot meaningfully be spun or disguised as if they are the same gospel. Without the same gospel and without repentance, shared mission is impossible and unity can be superficial at best.

Conservative, orthodox voices within the Communion have demonstrated remarkable patience while consistently being ignored by revisionist groups. It is time that they are listened to, not sidelined as if their views are solely the product of their culture.

Scripture is clear. God has spoken clearly. When will the Archbishop of Canterbury?
