With a heavy heart we announce the passing on of the Very Reverend Canon Albert Freedom Nampanda, who until his time of death was the Dean of Cathedral Church of Cathedral Parish in the Diocese of Upper Shire – Saints Peter and Paul – Mpondas, Mangochi. Born on the 8th day of June, 1982, the former Dean of Cathedral succumbed to liver cancer on Monday, 21st day of March, 2022 at Zomba Central Hospital where he was receiving treatment after a short illness.

Canon Albert Nampanda was ordained a Priest in the Church of God in 2013 at the Cathedral Church of Saints Peter and Paul, and later collated as Canon of the Cathedral by the Lord Bishop Brighton Vita Malasa, the Diocesan Bishop of Upper Shire.

The remains of the Late Canon Albert Nampanda will be taken from the Saint Luke’s Hospital Mortuary to the Cathedral Church of Saints Peter and Paul – Mpondas, Mangochi where the First Requiem Mass will be celebrated by the Diocesan Bishop of Upper Shire – The Right Reverend Brighton Vita Malasa at 14:00 Hours today 22nd day of March, 2022 and thereafter the remains of the Late Canon Albert Nampanda will be taken to his home Parish Church of Saint Mary’s – Namwera Parish in Mangochi, where the Second Requiem Mass will be celebrated by the Archdeacon of Mangochi East, the Venerable Austin Lwanda to be proceeded with a funeral vigil in the same Church.

The Main Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday the 23rd day of March, 2022 from 10:00 Hours by the Diocesan Bishop of Upper Shire, to be proceeded by burial rites near the same Namwera Parish centre. Please pray for Maria the widow and the children – Alinafe, Trinity, Clare and Albert Jr. and the entire bereaved family, not forgetting the entire Diocesan Clergy fraternity.
