South Sudan General Synod opens in Juba

The 11th Provincial Synod of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan opened today at All Saints Cathedral in Juba under the theme “Building the Church on a strong foundation”. The synod opened with a service of Holy Communion with the primate of the ECSS, the Most Rev. Justin Badi Arama, presiding. The Secretary General of the Council of Anglican Provinces in Africa joined the 300 bishops and delegates and read the gospel at the service, while South Sudan’s Fourth Vice President Rebecca Nyadeng de Mabior read the Old Testament lesson. The synod continues over the weekend.
