The Church of Nigeria reports the wife of the Bishop of Ikeduru, who was kidnapped last week, has been set free by her captors.

On 8 October 2021 unidentified gunmen seized Anuri Maduwuike, the wife of the Rt. Rev. Emmanuel C. Maduwike. The Primate of Nigeria, the Most Rev. Henry Ndukaba, announced the news this week and asked for a day of prayer and fasting in response to the waive of abductions that have plagued Nigeria.

In August 2019 Mrs. Maduwuike was kidnapped but was released three days later by her abductors.

The Archbishop of Owerri Province, the Most Rev. David Onuohoa told ACNNTV: “God answered our prayers and she was released unhurt. She has been reunited with her family.”

It is not known if a ransom was paid for her release.
