The new Archbishop: We look forward to serving God and the country, and I thank my teacher “Mouneer Hanna”
Dr. Samy Fawzy, Archbishop of the Episcopal/Anglican Province of Alexandria, expressed his thanks to Dr. Mouneer Hanna, Archbishop of the Church, who devoted himself to spiritual service, adding: We all served and lived under his care and supervision for many years after he devoted his entire life to the development and growth of the Episcopal/Anglican Church service in Egypt and North Africa. and the Horn of Africa, where his efforts and dedication over 21 years of tireless work and insight into the historical event, which is the adoption of the Diocese of Egypt to become a new region of the Episcopal Church in the world, and his inauguration as the first Archbishop of Alexandria on June 21, 2020.
The new archbishop added in his inauguration speech at All Saints Cathedral today, Tuesday: The Church provides a social, educational, medical and cultural service that serves society in all its spectrum without discrimination on the basis of gender, sect or religion, stressing: The Church will continue to support the poor, the needy, the marginalized and the people of determination and cares in particular Refugees through the Episcopal Care Institution, which puts in mind the development and construction of the community to advance with the help of its sons and daughters and achieve prosperity for the members of the community
The new bishop stressed: We enjoy the encouragement of the Egyptian state in the process of building the Egyptian person, and this is what we see evident in the tireless work of our President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who is working hard to build an advanced and reviving society that accepts the thought of the other and leads to comprehensive development.
The new archbishop considered that the Lord’s call represents a personal relationship, pointing out that the vision of the Episcopal Church is the main focus of a strong, real communion relationship with God. This is how a spiritual revival is achieved in our churches, and it is a revival that only occurs through a strong and close relationship with the Almighty God in the Holy Spirit who chooses us and invites us to go we bear fruit and our fruit lasts.
Bishop Samy stressed: The Church is concerned with education and discipleship through its various service programs and the distinguished Episcopal College of Theology, which serves the region through theological education in Egypt in its various branches in Cairo, Alexandria, Minya, North Africa, and the Horn of Africa. It also contributes to theological education in Sudan through the Nuba Mountains Institute and during the friendship that binds us with Sudan and South Sudan.
Bishop Sami pointed to the Alexandria region of the Anglican Episcopal Church, whose headquarters in Egypt serves ten countries, namely Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Chad, Mauritania, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Djibouti, and Somalia, stressing: We must provide an effective and effective service in which we witness about the work of the Lord in the new region: Alexandria
And he concluded: My prayer is at the beginning of a new service that the Lord honors and entrusts to me in the region of Alexandria and the Archdiocese of Egypt to offer everything I can in the different dimensions of service in the church with my fellow priests, deacons, lay servants and workers in the region and the parish, in spiritual, social, cultural, educational and medical work in an ecumenical spirit of cooperation With all the churches and in the spirit of dialogue and mutual love within our great Egyptian society and all the societies of the region in North Africa and the Horn of Africa.
