New primate for South East Asia

The Sixth Archbishop and Primate of the Anglican Church in South East Asia

The Rt. Rev. Datuk Melter Jiki Tais, Bishop of Sabah was elected the 6th Archbishop and Primate of the Province of the Anglican Church in South East Asia during the Extraordinary meeting of the Provincial Synod held in Kuching, Sarawak on 24th September 2019. The term of office of Archbishop-elect Melter Jiki Tais will be from February 2020 to February 2024. He will succeed the Most Rev. Datuk Ng Moon Hing as Archbishop and Primate of South East Asia. Archbishop Ng Moon Hing will continue to serve as Bishop of West Malaysia until his retirement in November 2020. The Synod has taken into consideration the needs of the Province and the long-term challenges the Province faces in her mission.
