  1. Muslim jihadist came up with a variation of guerrilla tactics to inflict harm on superior strength. It is hitting a soft target such as 911, tourists, rail stations. It has cost us billions. The NZ mosque attack was an evil man hitting a soft target.

As Christians are we required to be soft targets? We are often asked to pray for protection which actually means demanding US Armed Forces step in and kill the bad people. And then of course, we are asked to condemn the US Armed Forces. I was very offended when the Saudi students at Portland State University cheered the burning of the Twin Towers. I don’t want to be a soft target for someone else’s evil.

    • Excellent observation sir.
Even during ww1 and ww2 the fact is the freedom for Christians and others to be conscientious objectors was purchased by the resolution of their non – believing countrymen to lay down their lives for their loved ones, their communities and ultimately their nation.
Christians in free nations are citizens of two countries; primarily the Kingdom of God and secondly to the nation in which they dwell.
I think our Lord’s command to love our enemies and the stranger in our midst has been skewed and taken out of context.
As an individual Christian I am called to endure adversity and persecution, to turn the other cheek to the smiter. I am called to show care and compassion to the stranger in our midst.
But this does not mean when my loved ones are being threatened with violence I should do nothing. Nor does it mean that when I see someone else being attacked I should pass by on the other side. (Although calling the police first before wading in is probably a smart move..).
Nor does it mean that when a foreign nation, or forces within our nation are intent on taking over our country that we should do nothing. No, as men and women of faith we have a responsibility to stand up for what is right in the eyes of God.
I look at how my Christian brothers and sisters in other nations suffer for their devotion to our Lord Jesus Christ. What it teaches me is that no amount of ‘faux compassion’ will spare me from what these folk endure. Only a strong military and an insistence on the primacy of British laws and values will do that.

  2. Most Muslims are from poorer countries. Therefore they are victims. Christians are associated with the “rich” west. Even if they are poor Nigerians. Class warfare template.

  3. Huzzah!
Like Shadrach Meshach and Abednego you have emerged (slightly singed) from the fiery furnace – if only for a little while..
So welcome back; you have been missed and it has been difficult to find out what had happened to you. It is so good to have three wise and portly members of the clergy offering up their observations and perceptions in such a kindly and humorous manner.
No cant, no frills or furbelows, no hidden agendas, just plain speaking that by and large reflects the mood of many thoughtful Christians of all denominations..
I see you have also started including news from the USA Methodist section. Perhaps we will also see interviews with Baptists and Evangelical Free Churchers from all around the world?
For this is what I feel should be the role of Conservative evangelical Anglicanism in these days; to provide both a lead and a platform for all those who make up the Body of Christ and to help build relationships in the face of dissension, corruption and apostasy.
    God bless you guys!

  4. Thank you for this episode and excellent commentry. Our governments and churches, having already betrayed the Christian faith and the culture it had given rise to, have made Christians a soft target for attacks of every kind.
