ACNA congregation breaks ground in Colorado

Fort Collins parish of the ACNA International Diocese begins construction on new church

Saint Peter’s Anglican Church of Fort Collins, Colorado, held a ceremonial ground-breaking for a new church building on Sunday, October 16th.  At the helm of the ground-breaking was ACNA International Diocese Bishop The Right Reverend Dr. Bishop Bill Atwood who, following prayers with the clergy and congregation, skillfully handled the construction excavation equipment on hand to remove the first bucket full of soil.  The Reverend Canon Daniel Klooster, Rector of Saint Peter’s, followed the bishop’s action by removing a second bucket of soil.  In turn, The Reverend James C. Paul, Rector Emeritus of Saint Peter’s, removed a third bucket full.

The new church will be located 812 Candlewood in south Fort Collins on almost five acres of land purchased by the congregation three years previous.  Actual construction of the hill situated 10,000 square foot family centered facility is expected to begin prior to the end of this calendar year.

The new church will include a sanctuary, sacristy, parish hall, nursery, classrooms and church offices.  A seventy foot exterior tower will be fashioned with an attractive cross at the peak.  Future plans include a columbarium and a large exterior Celtic cross at the focal point of the circular entrance drive.  Saint Peter’s Anglican Church was formed in 2007, and is currently prayerfully meeting in rented facilities just south of the new church’s location. Additional details and inquiries can be secured by the calling the church office at 915-329-9458.
