We in the Episcopal Church join with our brothers and sisters throughout the world in mourning the passing of Shimon Peres.

[29 Sept 2016] We in the Episcopal Church join with our brothers and sisters throughout the world in mourning the passing of Shimon Peres. He will long be remembered as a leader of Israel, a citizen of the world, and as one who shared the Nobel Peace Prize with Yasser Arafat and Yitzhak Rabin, as a man of peace. For that noble work the words of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount seem appropriate:

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”

The Most Rev. Michael B. Curry

Presiding Bishop and Primate

The Episcopal Church
