The Durham Crown Court has moved the date of the trial for abuse of the former Archdeacon of Auckland to its summer term.

The Durham Crown Court has moved the trial date of the former Archdeacon of Auckland to its summer term. The trial of the Ven. George Granville Gibson (79) had been scheduled for later this month but following a court hearing on 10 Feb 2016 the parties agreed to postpone trial to 25 July 2016. Archdeacon Gibson is accused of eight counts of abusing two teenaged boys in the 1970s and 1980s. He was arrested by police in April 2014. He has denied all charges and has been on bail pending the trial.
